A Little Story
This profound symbol of resilience came from a recent trip to Kruger National Park - after days of seeing posters at every rest stop about the endangered nature of the Southern Ground Hornbill and instructions to call in with a location if you see them, we were finally blessed with a surprise opportunity to see them in the flesh.
A Surprise Opportunity
We pulled into a clearing to catch four of these massive birds hanging out in the grass next to our vehicle.
Just preening, flashing those gorgeous wings and enjoying the late afternoon sunshine.
After seeing non-stop posters and the message that their numbers are dwindling, we were floored by this incredible opportunity.
The Reminder
It was my reminder that resilience is not merely a trait of the bird, but a quality that resides within us all.
And like the Hornbill, we too have the power to persevere, to overcome adversity, and to emerge stronger on the other side.
